With the winter storm already in the Sequatchie Valley, road conditions are already starting to deteriorate across the area. Local Sheriff’s officials and TDOT advises motorists in the area to avoid travel unless it’s an absolute emergency.
Here’s a look at area road information. You can receive the road conditions for specific areas by calling the numbers listed below.
Tennessee: For road conditions, dial 1-877-244-0065
Marion County: Reports state that primary and secondary roads have some icy conditions. Road crews are currently working to clear them. Crews advise against travel. I-24 Eastbound (toward Chattanooga) at MM 163 is shut down as of 11:30 pm CST due to a jack-knifed tractor trailer…all lanes are effected. Mountain road conditions are starting to fade quickly.
Hamilton County: Both primary and secondary roads have icy conditions. Road crews are currently working to clear them. Crews advise against travel. Robert’s Mill Road and the W-Road on Signal Mtn. and Ochs Hwy on Lookout Mtn. are closed. I-24 Ridgecut is very icy. I-24 east has been shut down from Hamilton County to mile maker 163 in Marion County.
Bradley County: According to dispatch, all roads are clear at this time. Conditions could deteriorate as this winter storm continues.
Rhea County: According to dispatch, all roads are clear at this time. Conditions could deteriorate as this winter storm continues.
Meigs County: According to dispatch, all roads are clear at this time. Conditions could deteriorate as this winter storm continues.
Bledsoe County: Both primary and secondary roads have icy conditions. Road crews are currently working to clear them. Crews advise against travel.
North Georgia: For road conditions, dial 1-888-635-8287
Catoosa County: Both primary and secondary roads have layers of snow. Road crews are working now to clear them. Crews advise against travel.
Walker County: According to dispatch, all roads are icy and they advise against travel.
Whitfield County: Both primary and secondary roads have icy conditions, with some secondary being shut down. Crews warn against travel.
Dade County: Both primary and secondary roads have icy conditions. Road crews are currently working to clear them. Crews advise against travel.
Murray County: Both primary and secondary roads have icy conditions, with multiple inches being reported on them. Road crews are currently working to clear them. Crews advise against travel.
Alabama: For road conditions, dial 1-888-588-2848
Jackson County: Both primary and secondary roads have icy conditions, with multiple inches being reported on them. Road crews are currently working to clear them. Crews advise against travel.
Dekalb County: All roads are now open. Dispatch still advises drivers to use caution as secondary roads could still have icy patches.
