CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Brewer Media announced the launch of Chattanooga’s new choice for the “hippie generation.” Chattanooga’s Hippie Radio 106.9 FM hit the airwaves Tuesday morning.
With this addition to its broadcasting division, Brewer Media also becomes the first area radio station to utilize HD technology with WPLZ-95.3.2 along with a simulcast on a standard analog translator signal.
The station will also be heard on 106.9 FM in standard definition for most radio consumers. Hippie Radio 106.9 will appeal to the “baby boomer” generation with music primarily from 1964-1975, featuring core artists such as the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Chicago, Elton John, Stevie Wonder and the Guess Who.
Brewer Media President, Jim Brewer II says, “There’s been a void in music for the boomers since a local station vacated the format for classic country several months ago. The boomers are one of the most attractive demos for advertisers and we intend to deliver that audience with a niche’ format geared specifically to them.”
Brewer Media serves Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia with five radio formats, a traffic network on 19 radio stations and 3 television stations, a publishing division featuring the alternative newspaper The Pulse , video production services, custom websites, exclusive cab topper rights, and a growing portfolio of websites designed to reach distinct market segments. Brewer Media’s mission statement says they are committed to connecting clients with their customers by providing a multi-platform, comprehensive approach in delivering their message with proven results and added value.
