After initially deciding on a 2-Hour Delay for Friday morning, officials with the Marion County Schools have decided to call-off classes for Friday, January 21st due to the overnight snowfall around the area.
While residents in the valley woke up to see nothing more than wet streets, school officials say the mountain areas that the school system serves have some areas that were hit hard by the snow, including Monteagle Mountain.
Another concern for school officials is the danger of black ice, that was found to be present on many roadways in and around the valley early Friday morning.
