A springlike storm will move toward the Tennessee Valley Thursday evening. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday(PM) and Friday(AM). The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has placed Marion County (and surrounding areas) in a slight risk for severe weather. Storms may produce damaging wind gusts and hail one inch in diameter (or larger). Although the threat of tornadoes is smaller than our western Tennessee counterparts. There will still be enough wind dynamics around to give us a threat for tornadoes.
It is advised that Marion County residents stay weather alert during this time in case severe weather threatens the area. Make sure your weather radios are in great working order. This is also Severe Weather Awareness Week for the state of Tennessee. It is advised to that residents complete a formal plan of action if one has not already been made. Be sure to follow safety guidelines if severe weather watches and warnings are issued.
