Beaulieu of America prepares for 170 Layoffs

As many as 170 employees could be out of a job by the end of this year. That’s because Beaulieu of America is closing its Riverbend carpet production plant in Dalton.

Dalton newspaper, The Daily Citizen, reported the closing could happen by the end of the year.  Beaulieu of America President and CEO told the paper, “The reason we’re closing it is the demand for carpet has been down for the last several years.”

The plant plans to consolidate some of its facilities and move employees to other locations in Whitfield and Murray counties. Earlier this month, Shaw Industries announced its laying off about 270 workers from its Dalton plant.
