After record rainfall earlier this week and a few nights of frigid temperatures, the weather seemed to cooperate well with Marion County residents attending or participating in one of the area Christmas parades on Saturday.
South Pittsburg’s annual parade started the day at around 10am, following the route along Cedar Avenue. Many residents from all over the county lined the streets as the sights and sounds of the holiday season filled the parade route and the air.
Following the parade, Santa was available for pictures at the historic Princess Theater (sponsored by the City of South Pittsburg).
Next stop for some holiday festivities was Jasper, where the Town’s annual Christmas Parade got underway just after 5:30 p.m.. The parade route follows Betsy Pack Dr. (US-41 South) to the Ingle’s grocery store on Main Street (US-41).
Last year, despite rain and extreme cold, many braved the elements to see the parade, however this year the spectators enjoyed a dry and mild evening with temperatures in the mid-50′s.
