UPDATE: Missing Marion Co. Man added to FBI Database

James Roger Tant

A Marion County man is missing and area investigators say he’s simply disappeared.

James “Roger” Tant, 54,  at his South Pittsburg Mountain home, however it wasn’t until his sister tried to reach him that authorities learned he’d been missing since March and no one has seen or heard from him since.

Investigators say they’ve hit a dead end and hope that someone can lead them in the right direction.

“No records have showed up of him using a credit card or anything,” Sheriff Bo Burnett told reporters with WRCB Channel 3 in an interview. ”No one has talked to him or seen him the last few months. It’s just like he’s vanished.”

Tant was last seen at his home on Hewgley Road. But his wife, who lives with him, didn’t report him missing.

Tant’s sister contacted authorities last week when she was unable to reach him.

Neighbors say Tant was unemployed and it’s very uncharacteristic of him to leave home.

Sheriff Bo Burnett says Tant’s name has now been added to the FBI’s missing persons database in hopes that it will lead to a break in the case.

“Maybe if the public, someone has seen him since March 10th, we’d just like them to contact us,” the Sheriff says.

Marion investigators ask if anyone has seen Tant since March, or knows of his whereabouts, to contact the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at (423)942-2525 or the TBI’s Chattanooga office at (423)634-3044.
