It’s that time of year again…back to school time for students in Marion County Schools.
The official school Registration Day for the 2012-2013 school year is Wednesday, August 8th, 2012. The first full day of school is the following day, Thursday, August 9th, 2012.
According to the Marion County Board of Education website additional registration days, dates, and information is as follows for schools in the county:
Elementary
Monteagle Elem.: Pre-registration for K-8th students is available Monday-Friday 7:30am – 3pm through 8/8/12. All other students may register K-8th, along with new students and those transferring to the school may register on Wednesday, August 8th from 7:45-11am.
Jasper Elem.: Orientation/registration for Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade students will be held on Monday, August 6th at 5pm. Parents and students will be able to meet the teacher, visit the classroom, and obtain additional suppy lists at this time. Orientation/registration for JES students in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades will be on Tuesday, August 7th at 5pm. Contact the school at (423)942-2110 for additional registration arrangements.
South Pittsburg Elem.: Registration Day for all students is 8/8/12 from 8am – 10am. Students who are registering at SPES should provide their Tennessee shot record, physical form, certified copy of their Birth Certificate (with state seal), and a copy of their Social Security Card.
Whitwell Elem.: Registration will be on Wednesday, August 8th. Contact the school for further details at (423)658-5313.
Middle School
Jasper Middle: 5th & 6th grade orientation and registration is Tuesday, August 7th, 2012 from 5-6pm. 7th and 8th grade orientation and registration will follow from 6:30-8pm. Any student unable to attend these orientation dates may register on Wednesday, August 8th from 7:30-10am.
Whitwell Middle: 5th grade and new student orientation/registration will be held Thursday, August 2nd, 4:00-5:30pm. 6th grade orientation/registration is Monday, August 6th from 4-5pm. 7th grade orientation/registration will follow from 6-7pm. 8th grade registration will be held on Tuesday, August 7th from 4-5pm. Any student unable to attend these orientation dates may register on Wednesday, August 8th from 8-10am.
South Pittsburg Academy: 7th and 8th graders at South Pittsburg Academy (High School) may register on Wednesday, August 8th beginning at 8am. Incoming 7th graders must have their updated immunizations completed and the correct form turned into the school office no later than August 9th. High School
Marion County High: Early Registration is available for existing students as follows – Seal of Excellence students may pre-register on Monday, July 30th from 9-11am and 1-3pm. Seniors may register on Tuesday, July 31st from 9-11am and 1-3pm. Juniors register on Wednesday, August 1st from 9-11am and 1-3pm. Sophomores will register on Thursday, August 2nd 9-11am and 1-3pm. Freshman Open House will be held on Tuesday, August 7th from 5-7pm, and parents and students are invited. Students who pre-register will be able to pick up their class schedules, set parking spots, and rent lockers. Registration will otherwise take place on Wednesday, August 8th from 7:30-11:00am. Students should arrive by 7:45am. New students may contact Guidance Office prior to Registration Day at (423) 942-5202 or (423) 942-5120.
South Pittsburg High: Juniors and Seniors may pick up schedules and rent lockers on Monday, July 30th beginning at 8:30am. Freshman and Sophomores will be able to pick up schedules and rent lockers on Tuesday, July 31st beginning at 8:30am. 7th and 8th graders may register on Wednesday, August 8th beginning at 8am. Incoming 7th graders must have their updated immunizations completed and the correct form turned into the school office no later than August 9th.
Whitwell High: Seniors can pick up schedules, rent lockers ($8), obtain handbooks ($8), and parking decals ($20) from 7:30-11:30am and 12-1pm on Monday, July 30th. Juniors may do this on Tuesday, July 31st. Sophomores on Wednesday, August 1st. Freshman will attend the “Red & White Bash” at the WHS gym on Thursday, August 2nd from 8am-12:30pm. Incoming Freshman will be able to pick up schedules and rent lockers and purchase handbooks at this event. Registration day will be an abbreviated day for ALL Whitwell High students from 8:00 to 10:30am. The day’s schedule will go as follows… 8:00am: Assembly in high school auditorium, 8:30am; Class meetings, 1st Period: 9:30-9:40am, 2nd Period: 9:40-9:50am, 3rd Period: 9:50-10:10am, 4th Period: 10:10-10:20am, 5th Period: 10:20-10:30am.

Most county school supply lists are available at the Kimball Wal-Mart Supercenter near General Merchandise entrance (non-grocery entrance).
