CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Drivers with multiple parking violations in downtown Chattanooga will soon find themselves booted.
Chattanooga Area Regional Transit Authority Director Tom Dugan says new parking officers – or “ambassadors” – will be more aggressive in handing out citations, especially to those who choose to feed meters while they work in businesses downtown.
Dugan told The Chattanooga Times Free Press (bit.ly/P3VPRg) that the new enforcement goes into effect Oct. 22, meaning motorist with three or more unpaid citations will get a boot – or clamp placed on a wheel to immobilize the car.
The new parking ordinance approved a few weeks ago by the City Council eliminated the stipulation that a city judge must sign off before a vehicle can be booted.
