At least one tornado hit North Georgia on Wednesday morning. An emergency management worker says a home has been demolished and at least 10 cars have been overturned in the northwest Georgia town of Adairsville. A fire chief says a storm that roared across northwest Georgia has left overturned vehicles on Interstate 75, and crews are responding to reports of people trapped in residential and commercial buildings.
Bartow County Fire Chief Craig Millsap told The Associated Press that there are reports of some injuries, and crews were trying to get into the damaged areas to further assess the situation.
Chris Moseley, an administrative assistant with the Bartow County Emergency Management Agency, says there are no immediate reports of injuries in Adairsville.
An emergency manager reports that a tree fell on a house in Rome, though there were no immediate reports of any injuries.
Earlier, high winds brought down power lines south of Summerville, the emergency manager in Chattooga County reported.
