The Marion County Community and our Tri-State area today mourns the loss of a longtime area resident, law enforcement officer, and former DARE officer to many in our county.

Mark Garner, who spent many years of his law enforcement career with the Marion County Sheriff's Department, has passed away.

A post on the Dade County Sheriff's Department Facebook page says: "The Dade County Sheriff's Office regrets to inform the community of the passing of a caring and devoted Deputy, Mark Garner. Deputy Garner worked as the CHAMPS Officer at Dade and Davis Elementary schools. Our sincerest prayers are with his wife, daughters and family at this time. Rest in peace dear friend! We will always remember you as Tennessee's biggest fan!"

Officials in Dade County have not yet released information about the cause of Deputy Garner's death, nor has any information regarding funeral arrangements been released.

We at MarionCountyMessenger.com also wish to extend our most sincere thoughts and prayers to his family, friends, and fellow officers.

Tier TassI think it's a good cause with the Pink Heals. But do I see Marion county wasting tax money on driving those emergency and police vehicles? Why don't they drive their personal vehicles. Oh Yea. Because they use our tax money.
