How to hear your local team’s football broadcast this season

Football season is upon us again, and for many of us that means Friday nights spent at one of our great area football stadiums or maybe you’ll be on the road with your team this season. And while many of you do follow your team on the road, sometimes it’s just not practical for faithful fans to do. And let’s not forget our shut-in fans or fans that are no longer living local to the Marion County area who want to catch the action each week.

Listening to your local team’s games online is not a problem this season for fans in Marion County three of the county’s high schools will be broadcast over the radio and online this season — including Marion County High, South Pittsburg High, and for the first time in recent years — Whitwell High School.

Whitwell’s season opener on the road in Coalmont against Grundy County will take to the air live Friday night at 7pm CDT on MarionCountyMessenger.com Community Radio…and the rebroadcast on KWN-TV will air following the North Jackson Chiefs game at 7pm CDT on Sunday night on Charter channel 195.

Lots of excitement has been up behind the Whitwell broadcasts this season. Fans are touting the greatly improved Tigers team is going to go places this season and we’re ready to bring you every bit of the action with veteran broadcaster Chris Goforth’s play-by-play action.

Goforth, a Jasper native and a graduate of the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, is an avid sports fan from birth, his broadcasting career began at 17-years old broadcasting high school basketball games for a local public access TV station.  Chris has hosted his own sports radio show in Chattanooga, TN and the surrounding areas since 1993.

With over 20 season of high school football play by play under his belt, the Whitwell Tigers are in good hands for their play-by-play this year.  Goforth has also broadcast six SEC Women’s Basketball Tournaments, two Southern Conference Basketball Tournaments and was the play by play voice for the UT-Chattanooga Lady Mocs from 1995-1999 in addition to hosting the UTC women’s basketball coaches show for CSS from 2008-2011.  Chris has also worked as an analyst on the FCS Game of the Week, the only national radio broadcast of the Football Championship Subdivision.

For the Marion County Warrior faithful, Dave Daffron returns foMCM RADIO LOGO2r his 36th season as the Voice of the Warriors, where he and the Marion County Broadcast Team will bring you each week’s action live from flagship station, WTNW-AM 820 in Jasper, and via MarionCountyMessenger.com.

The games air live in their entirety over the radio station’s web stream (and live on the air until station sign-off….WTNW is licensed for daytime operation only) and WTNW is the ONLY place you can hear the games LIVE each week.
