MarionCountyMessenger.com Radio to carry MCHS Warriors and Whitwell Tigers Football LIVE

MarionCountyMessenger.com and our Community Radio project is gearing up again to carry local high school football games LIVE via the web this season.

While Friday nights spent at one of our great area football stadiums is a popular activity as the school year begins, sometimes it’s just not practical for faithful fans to do. Between family and work obligations, among other reasons, many times the ultimate fan just can’t make it out to the game. This also holds true for area shut-in’s that are fans of a local team or for fans that aren’t local to the Marion County area, but still want to catch the action each week.

For the Marion County Warrior faithful, Dave Daffron returns for his 37th season as the Voice of the Warriors, where he and the Marion County Broadcast Team will bring you each week’s action live right here with WEPG and  MarionCountyMessenger.com Community Radio. Daffron and his team bring you the true Warrior fan’s perspective on the game, offering insight and commentary specific to the Warrior faithful while also keeping an eye on news and stats from teams around the region and around our valley.

Dave is one of the longest continuous-running high school football broadcasters in our area now, and we’re glad to have him alongside Doug Ramsey, Grant Webb, and other broadcast team members bringing you an experienced perspective each week.

In years past, WTNW in Jasper had served as the flagship station for the Warriors, but after the station suffered a fire at the end of 2016 and closed as a result, we’ve stayed on and partnered with instead with WEPG which had carried the Warriors many years prior.

To listen live each week, simply visit http://MarionCountyMessenger.com/Radio — or click the “Radio” tab at the top of this page. There you’ll see the “Warriors Radio” stream just under our main stream (use the ‘Llisten Live’ link or player). The games will air live in their entirety over this stream LIVE each week. Rebroadcasts of the game can be heard on Saturday mornings at 10am Central time on WEPG 910 AM and Charter Spectrum channel 197.

The Marion County Broadcast Team will be LIVE for the season opener from Bill Baxter Stadium in Jasper as the Warriors host the Hixson Wildcats on Friday, August 18th at 7pm CDT. Listen LIVE here with us!

Whitwell Tigers Football fans can also catch their team LIVE again this season on MarionCountyMessenger.com’s Community Radio main stream each week (visit http://MarionCountyMessenger.com/Radio or click the “Radio” tab at the top of this page, then the ‘Llisten Live’ link or player). For the second year now, we’ve partnered with KWN-TV to make this live broadcast possible.  You can hear the games live…as they happen on our web stream each Friday night and then tune into KWN-TV for the video replay on Charter Spectrum channel 195 in Marion County each weekend (watch KWN for times and schedules of replays).

Whitwell’s season opener on the road against Boyd Buchanan will hit the stream on Friday night, August 18th at 6:30 pm CDT on MarionCountyMessenger.com Community Radio with veteran broadcaster Chris Goforth’s play-by-play action and call of the game.

Goforth, a Jasper native and a graduate of the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, is an avid sports fan from birth, began his broadcasting career at 17-years old while broadcasting high school basketball games for a local public access TV station. Since, he’s hosted his own sports radio show in Chattanooga since 1993, as well as regional sports shows in Atlanta, among other places.

Goforth has also broadcast six SEC Women’s Basketball Tournaments, two Southern Conference Basketball Tournaments and was the play by play voice for the UT-Chattanooga Lady Mocs from 1995-1999 in addition to hosting the UTC women’s basketball coaches show for CSS from 2008-2011.  Chris has also worked as an analyst on the FCS Game of the Week, the only national radio broadcast of the Football Championship Subdivision…and with over 20 seasons of high school football play-by-play under his belt, Whitwell fans can expect a great broadcast from Chris and his broadcast crew this season.

South Pittsburg Pirates fans can catch Pirates Football on WEPG-AM 910 radio and Charter Spectrum channel 197 in South Pittsburg this season. WEPG has aired South Pittsburg football for well over 30 years and brings it back again for the 2017 season. In addition to the audio broadcast over the radio and Charter Spectrum cable, the station is also streaming online from their website at www.wepgradio.com. We will also include a link to their stream on our radio page for your convenience.

Whether you’re on the field, on the road, or just at home on Friday nights…support one of your local teams in the area this football season and stay with MarionCountyMessenger.com and MarionCountyMessenger.com Community Radio for the latest all season long! Also be sure to thank the sponsors you hear on the broadcasts for making it possible each week!
